Law Students

Volunteers – Students

As a University of Toronto Faculty of Law student, you can get involved in LAWS in a number of ways that are educational, meaningful and fun.  The amount of time you commit can range from tutoring a student once a week to delivering a workshop to a class at one of our partner schools.  Besides programs that are already developed, LAWS staff are always eager to hear ideas from students.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

o        Tutoring LAWS high school students, one on one or in small groups

o        Creating workshops to be delivered in high school classes, on topics requested by our partner teachers or based on your own areas of interest

o        Delivering workshops on the Canadian legal system to newcomer youth in ESL classes

o        Leading or coaching one of LAWS extra-curricular activities (Debate Club, Mock Trial Club, etc.)

Why should you volunteer?

o        It is a great way to learn more about the communities that live in and share this part of the city with the law school.

o        Finding creative ways to explain the law to students will help you develop a deeper understand and appreciation for it.

o        It is a lot of fun!
